About This Project
Spoonful is a recipe-sharing mobile app that reimagines how people connect through food. Our extensive user research revealed that existing recipe apps focused solely on the functional aspect of cooking, missing the emotional and social dimensions that make food meaningful. We designed Spoonful to celebrate the stories, memories, and communities that form around shared meals. The app features a social-first approach where users can share not just recipes, but the contexts, stories, and experiences that make each dish special.
The Challenge
Based on my research, I discovered the need for searchable and shareable digital storage of family recipes.Gone are the days of a recipe card box, but not the desire for Grandma's casserole.
The Solution
We designed a social recipe app that puts storytelling and community at the center. Users can share recipes along with photos, videos, and personal narratives. Features like 'Recipe Stories' and 'Cooking Together' mode enable meaningful connections and shared experiences. Keeping old traditions alive with the help of modern technology.
The Impact
Created a unique value proposition in the crowded recipe app market by focusing on emotional connections. User testing showed 90% of participants felt the app better captured their relationship with food compared to traditional recipe apps.
